Cropsey was raised in Laguna Beach, California-the epicenter of the free-love drug culture during the late sixties and early seventies. By age twelve, he'd taken LSD and was using hash and marijuana on a daily basis. By age fourteen, he'd overdosed on heroin and been arrested on burglary and felony drug charges. Around that time, he was introduced to the Gospel and accepted Christ as his savior.
